5/20/05 We’re sad to say we have to leave this haven of gorgeous views, down home comfort and peace and quiet! We could have loved another week or two! This visit has inspired us to want to purchase our own country home to retire to one day! Thank you for the inspiration! The thought, creativity and details that you have created Mountain Sun Way with is exceptional! The cabin “feel”, the cedar bedroom set, the cozy afghans all speak to owners that know what a true getaway feels like in the mountains. We loved the birds feeding on the porch, (as well as your book on describing them!), and swinging in the breeze with the exquisite mountain views was the highlight! Thank you for sharing your home with us! Take care, Petey & Ron – Longwood, FL
6/2/05 Today we will be leaving this wonderful home! Our family had a great time, and was busy every minute of the day. The porch was great! I would wake up and go watch the birds and have a snack! My little sister Alli loved the Play Station games, and was glad you had them – thanks! Over all, the trip was a wonderful vacation that we all enjoyed. My family and I hope to stay here again sometime in the future. Thank you very much, Kelly, Jay, Kelsie and Alli – Traverse City, MI
6/17/05 We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here this week. The cabin is equipped nicely with a very warm and welcoming feeling. The view is stunning! One of our favorite things was to watch the sunrise and set on the mountains. The movies and multiple TV’s and game system was a real plus for the kids! Thank you! We definitely look forward to a return visit! David, Ann, Rob & Hunter - Louisville, KY
6/23/05 Thanks for letting us use your cozy, charming cabin. We enjoyed the Biltmore (of course) and Chimney Rock – made it around the top. The view from the cabin is wonderful! We didn’t see any bears, but that’s ok as we saw some in the Smokies. Didn’t have much time to explore Asheville, but it was a pleasant change from the craziness of Gatlinburg! Thanks again – we love the area. The southern states we’ve seen are beautiful and everyone is so friendly! Jim, Mary, Pete and Nancy – Nevada City, CA
6/30/05 Thanks for a great stay! The kids loved every minute of this precious cabin! Munnie & Barbara, Mary Alice, Hugh & Razz – Helena AR
7/05/05 Thank you very much for letting us stay here. The view was pretty and we watched movies all night. I hope we will come back someday because the teen girls loved it! The kitchen is very cute and so is the loft. Thanx again for a wonderful time. Always - Mehgan, Kristen, Julie and Kane
7/25/05 Thank you for having such a nice mountain retreat! We had such a great time for the past two weeks! We loved the birds! The view recharged our engines! The kids loved a TV in every room and the games & Play station / movies. No bears – thankfully! The Griffin Family
7/30/05 WOW! Just what the Dr. ordered. Beautiful, rustic, relaxing, comforting, welcoming and breathtaking are all words that one could use to describe your home on top of the mountain. We thoroughly enjoyed your well-equipped cabin. Thanks, Mark, Ann Marie, Brenda, Casey, Daniel & Benjamin Allison – Charlotte, NC
7/28/05 Thanks for letting us stay at your cabin! I really like the loft! Me and my brothers liked the play station so we could have something to do at night. I like how you had the bird feeders. I got some great pictures of these yellow and black birds. I wish I could show you them, but of course, you probably see them a lot. I also really like the view from the back porch. It is very nice. Well that all I have to say! The Grecosky Family – Orlando, FL
8/15/05 We’re having a wonderful time in the Asheville area, and we are enjoying your cozy cabin immensely! The view is amazing! Of course, the children love the Playstation and after a long busy day, it’s nice to come back and relax! It’s easy to tell that your cabin is well maintained and it is equipped very nicely. Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us and for helping to make our family vacation memorable! Sincerely, The Gleason Family - Fairhill, Elkton, MD
8/27/05 Thanks for a great stay in your wonderful cabin in the great location. Landau-Taylor Family - Boston, MA
8/29/05 With tree frogs singing, we sit out on the porch and join them in chorus with our voices and guitar. This last evening, Katrina had hit the coast of LA and MS, but we only experienced one evening of rain. The day greeted us with sun peeking through the clouds. 8/30/05 - Tuesday we spent ? the day in Asheville – went to the food coop to pick up dinner. We did eat out for lunch, though at a restaurant called Tupelo Honey, that we highly recommend. The waitress was very helpful and friendly - the food fabulous. The veggie plate was great – the best beets and cornbread – to die for! 8/31/06 - The day was perfect. We hiked the trails in the Pisgah National Forest. A visit to the Cradle of Forestry was extremely interesting. Definitely a worth the trip for all ages. Back at the cabin, gold finches and chickadees constantly visited the feeders. Red tailed hawk soared overhead. Love your furniture. David & Jude – Mebane, NC & friends Shels, Virginia & daughters Sarah and Anna – Concord, MA
9/18/05 Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend. The cool mountain air was just what we needed. This was our first official family vacation since my husband and I married in February. The view was beautiful and the cabin was great! We went to Biltmore and thoroughly enjoyed out time there. We also took the Asheville Ghost Tour which was interesting. Overall we loved the cabin, view and tourist attractions. We will always remember Mountain Sun Way as our first fun filled family vacation. Kevin, Ashley, Wayne & Betsy – Clarksville, TN
9/29/05 Asheville, The Biltmore, Tupelo Honey, Black Mountain Bistro, turkeys on the Blue Ridge Parkway – golf at Broadmoor Golf Links, the NC Arboretum, Mount Mitchell – a great time was had by all! MJB – Silver Springs, MD & Clements – Edinburg, Scotland

12/22/05 We LOVED our stay and enjoyed the great location. We saw Chimney Rock, Asheville, Biltmore, WNC Nature Center and were close to all of it! Loved the birds, view and dÈcor of your home. Bob & Jessica – Lake Mary, FL
12/30/05 What a cozy cabin you have here – and the view is remarkable! We enjoyed relaxing and spending time with family for a few days before returning to our busy lives. We especially enjoyed the DVD player and wireless internet. We spent several days exploring the area – went on the Candlelight Tour of the Biltmore, ate at The Biltmore Depot, Tupelo Honey CafÈ, Trevi Italian – all were great. We took trips to Chimney Rock, Black Mountain and Boone (well we almost made it to Boone …). Thanks for sharing your cabin with us – we had a great time! Ron and Rebecca, Leslie (23), Scott (21) & Erica (18) – Cleveland, TN
1/5/06 We had such a lovely time at your cabin. We eventually went snowboarding at Wolf Laurel about 40 minutes away. It’s not a huge area, but it has a couple of good slopes. We ate at some really good restaurants near by: Trillium, A Bistro at 145 Old Charlotte Hwy, and CafÈ on the Square in downtown Asheville. We took day trips to the Biltmore Estate and Highlands (I would definitely recommend the Highlands trip). While it was about 2 hours each way, the trip is really worthwhile as there a many beautiful waterfalls while going up the mountain. The cabin itself is great, simple but completely equipped with everything and more – even my 4 year old nephew found things to play with. We enjoyed the beautiful view, birds and warm sun in the mornings and afternoons – and your holiday decorations are so cute and cozy! The McCarthy Family – Miami, FL
1/15/06 We enjoyed every minute of our weekend here – the small blustery snowstorm, the howling wind and fire, just to name a few. We’d love to come back in the spring or fall to enjoy the porch and birds even more. Thanks for a wonderful place! Amanda, Kim, Jennifer & Brenda – Knoxville, TN
2/26/06 An annual girls weekend – we had a BLAST!!! Gwen, Sherri, Z, Karen, Brooke & Laurie!
2/28/06 Thankfully, we’ve recharged our batteries after a relaxing stay at Mountain Sun Way!! From lovely sunsets and sunrises, to fires, life up here is so-o-o peaceful. We finished a few days in Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg, trekked across the Smokies on 441 (saw snow!) and found our way to Mountain Sun Way! The cabin is beautifully appointed and felt like a slice of home. We forgot our cares and will reluctantly return home. Thanks for our post-Katrina de-stresser – it was perfect medicine! We did tour the Biltmore – what a terrific and astounding home. We highly recommend the tour. We have to share this – as we were checking out at the Biltmore Winery, we glanced at the clerk’s name tag. Her name was Katrina. No kidding. We shared a few laughs about that!! New Orleans will recover – it will take many years, but it will rebound. In the meantime, we know where to come to leave our hectic lives behind! Thank you for the opportunity to relax and vacation in a little slice of heaven! Life is good! Thanks, Jim, Alicia, James & Conor – Madisonville, LA P.S. – No bear sightings, thankfully! Lots of birds greet you at sunrise on the deck – what a treat! My-oh-my, our boys loved the woods and played outdoors until dark they loved the rugged terrain and all there is to explore up here!
4/10/06 How lucky we are to have been invited by our friend Charlotte to spend a week of her month vacation with her. We have traveled to the Smokies, toured the Biltmore, took the Lake Lure tour, visited Hendersonville, trekked to Chimney Rock & much more. Enjoyed the record breaking temperatures in the 80’s -90’s! Such a treat. Ate our way through our vacation in Asheville and all the local restaurants along 74A. Your mountain cabin has served us well. We so enjoyed coming home every night to just relax and enjoy each others company. Didn’t need the DVD’s or any games – just loved sitting on the deck watching the birds and loving the view. Vic & Maureen – Nantucket Island, MA
6/2/06 Peace – Serenity – Querencia – Shalom – All in a lovely home away from home. Wonderful week of exploring the countryside, the city of Asheville, quaint Black Mountain, reconnecting with longtime friends in Montreat. Hats off to you for your eye for taste – comfort – welcome. God bless the owners and each guest who comes to share in the beauty within and around! Ginnie – Wilmington, DE, Donna – Drexel Hill, PA & Heidi – Baltimore, MD
EPH 3:20 Thank you very much for blessing us with this beautiful cabin. It really made the whole weekend wonderful. The little sticky notes are most helpful, and it felt like we were on vacation! Thanks again – bless you, Jacelyn, Katherine, Anna, Ashley & Emily
7/1/06 We enjoyed our stay here immensely! We participated in the Christian Life Conference at Montreat – our rental changed at the last minute. We are so pleased that this ended up being our home away from home! Added treat was the elaborate fireworks display by a neighbor in the valley. God’s blessing, Patti & Kevin – Jacksonville, FL
7/8/06 We had a great time here – Chimney Rock, Biltmore House, Pisgah National Forest, Sliding Rock, French Broad Rafting Company, eating in Asheville – loved Flying Fog CafÈ & Tupelo Honey. I thought this cabin was outstanding compared to the others. This was one of my most fun vacations I’ve been on. The Morrells – Raleigh, NC
7/29/06 Sunny – low 90’s – still cool enough in the shade. Cool mornings … good for coffee on the deck. This is a very comfortable and well-appointed cottage. No bear sightings. Lots of finches & one hummingbird. Went to Bele Chere and then spent the rest of the week in an around the French Broad (river) … she was so entertaining, . The water seems cold at first, but very refreshing once you become acclimated. Recommend: Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls & Dupont State Forest. |
